So recently I've been brainstorming changing up my quiver a little bit, and wanted to get a few thoughts. So I live in Bellingham and ski mostly at Mt Baker, and my current quiver is as follows:
2010-2011 Dynastar 6th Sense Slicer (134,98-124), 169cm
2011-2012 Line Influence 105 (141-105-131), 179cm
2012-2013 Atomic Automatic (141-117-130), 179cm
I'm 5'8" and 140lbs, and a solid advanced skier, but I wouldn't call myself a true expert yet.
My question is this. I kind of feel like there is too much overlap between the Dynastars and the Lines. The Dynastars are somewhat more nimble than the Lines by virtue of their shorter length so they're a little better in bumps and trees, but that's the only real advantage I see to them when comparing them. The Lines are much more stable at speed, their edgehold is as good or better, and their soft snow and powder performance is significantly better.
So, I'm contemplating getting rid of the Dynastars and looking for something that will give me the same benefits they give me (shorter/more nimble), but with a waist somewhere in the 85-90mm range to really give me something that will tear apart firm snow. Probably in that same ~170cm length as the Dynastars. Skis that have caught my eye in my search:
Blizzard Brahma (125-88-110), 173cm
Fischer Motive 86 Ti (138-86-116), 168cm
Atomic Nomad Crimson Ti (132-86-114), 170cm
Any thoughts appreciated! I hope to be able to demo one or two this season, though I'm guessing I may have difficulty finding the Fischers.
