In my view its an error to coach someone into big angles. Coach all the movements...there are numerous...and if they retain balance the big angles will come.
They can not and should not be trying for big angles without having all of those pieces in place. To do so, they will probably end up banking out of balance inside or hip dumping.
Coach the fundamentals, and big angles will come. if they are even needed. I see way too many racer kids trying to imitate Ted ligety and they are all banked or hip dumped inside trying for big angles as if that is the secret. No, the secret is having a complex combination of movements all dialed in which can result in big angles in balance for sure if desired, but there is no one simple thing that is going to suddenly help a skier get big angles...and in fact attempting to do so without having all of the other pieces dialed in will probably result in poor skiing.
