Where to ski in Europe after work trip

Hello all,

New here and looking for some guidance. Myself and several other people from my work are traveling to Rust Germany (southwest region) for a conference in early March. I am looking for some ideas on where a group (6-8) of us could ski for a couple days after our conference is over.

We are looking for something fairly convenient, with in a 5-6 hr train ride from Rust.

I have been to Zermatt once before several years ago and believe this is probably the easiest logistically as we won't have a car and are only looking to travel by train. Primarily looking for a good variety of on piste skiing, not looking to travel between towns over the two days.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!

Well you're basically in the Vosges which does have some ski areas if conditions are good. But I"d consider Engelberg via Basle and Lucerne or St Anton via Bregenz and Feldkirchen as easily doable great ski areas.

Go to St Anton, you can get there by train easily.  Enjoy the town, piste, beer, schnitzel.  Wish I was there!

Lech/Zurs/Warth/Schrocken all within a bus ride too.  So much skiing right there.  Enjoy - Do it.  Something like 95 lifts and I have no idea how much acreage.

St Anton is an excellent choice and as others have said let the train take the strain.

Ischgl is an alternative and about the same distance from Rust. Likely to be less crowded IMHO. Not quite as easy to get to by train as you need to swap to a bus at Landeck-Zams station.ation.

Traveling by Train, I'd look at Interlaken Switzerland - Grindlewald, Murren, Wengen are all near by.  Train service from Interlaken to Skiing.

Took numerous trips to the region and it was never boring.
