Can anyone recommend a good and reliable tuner in or near Mt. Snow, Vt.? Thanks.

No direct experience, but I've heard good things about the Starting Gate shop.  They're closer to Stratton than they are to Mt. Snow, but on the back roads, the two are fairly close.

Thank you. I am hoping to find someone closer to Mt. Snow, e.g. within a couple of miles. Stratton is about a 30 min. drive from Mt. Snow.

Anybody else have any suggestions?

World Class Ski and Sport is very good.  They do a hand tune.  Some of the other shops run all the skis through a Montana or similar.   I'm actually going to sign up for a seasonal tuning package with them this weekend for my primary skis.  (I've used every tuner in the Mt Snow area, by the way)

Isn't the tuning with the Montana machine a decent tune? I thought Montana and Wintersteiger were ok, no?

It still requires someone who knows what they are doing.   Also, from what I've read, it's harder on the skis if you are getting tunes every few weeks during a ski season.  I know my daughter's race coach advised against a machine tune (in favor of a hand tune) given the skis need a tune every few days of class.

Thanks for this. I only tune on and off, depending on how many days I've skied... maybe every 4-6 days. Certainly, not a racing need; more recreational. Still recommend hand tuning over machine in this case?

Probably shouldn't matter much, then.  In the Mount Snow area, I'd still recommend World Class.  For a machine tune, you can go to First Trax or to The Grind at the base of Mount Snow.
