It may look that way relative to the last 4 seasons, but overall I'd still characterize it as moderately above average in long range historical context. Even at Mammoth in the top 1/4 of early seasons at least 3/4 of the mountain is open by Dec. 1. It's half open now but it won't make 3/4 by then without another dump.
To me a "great start" means top quartile, and I only see western Canada at that level now. Isn't Wolf Creek as good as it is now in more than 1/4 of Thanksgivings? The average Thanksgiving base depth there is 37 inches, which is right where it is now.
