tire talk: Toyo Celsius (v. Nokian WRG3)? - Page 2

Having purchased a painfully large number of performance snows for my cars, I do think the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 is probably the best combination of dry road and snow performance of any tire in that category.  When the PA4s wore out on my S4, I replaced them with Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds, which aren't nearly as good in deep snow, packed snow or icy conditions, but pretty much equal in dry conditions.

Thanks, I forwarded this to my son.

Thanks for all the input everyone.

FWIW my son has had the Toyo Celsius on his old Outback in CO for about a month now, including fresh snow and ice, and is a big fan.  No doubt most new tires would've been an improvement over the old set.

But there was one interesting experiment when he and his sister met up to ski one day it was snowing hard.  As they came into the same parking lot, he had no incident, and she had a fender bender on fairly new Yokohama Geolander A/T-S (another supposedly snow-friendly all season) on an older CRV that didn't brake as quick as she had planned.   Obviously there were other variables -- if anything she is the more experienced driver in snow, with a better long-term driving record -- but still worth noting.
