As I understand it the biometric toe reduces the release pressure during a backward twisting fall. This is one of the things that used to give markers the reputation of "prerelease" when mounted flat because of the ski flexing and changing forward pressure. This was a non issue when mounted on the piston plate.
The WC biometric removes this upward release pressure reduction in the same way the RD tyrolias do . The 18, 20 and 30 comps use the WC toe. I believe it is to give you more bias to retention with more extreme fore/aft changes that you get in the course.
However, when mounted on the piston plate, and forward pressure set properly (1/4-1/2 turn past flush) the biometric is a non issue, despite all the urban legends
