My dad...

OK, so I've shared a few jokes my sister sends me, but with me going back to see my mum and dad tomorrow, I thought I might share a little story about my dad. He can be very deep at times, and this happened about 25 years ago, when I was 7...
We lived in a bungalow (single storey house) in the countryside. Late one night I couldn't get to sleep. I was thirsty, so I got up and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. I guess it must have been about 2am. Dad heard the noise I was making and got up, we started talking.
We looked up to the expanse of the night sky above. He pointed out the Great Bear, the Little Bear, and Orion, the Hunter. He could see the amazement in my young eyes. He looked down at me and said, "Son, it's times like this that makes you realise"
"Realise what, dad?" I said.
I'll never forget his reply. It has stuck with me for years since. His depth and insight have helped me through many situations. He said to me, "Realise it's time I put a roof on this bloody kitchen"
