2015 Salomon q-85 bindings

Thread Starter

I'm having a hard time deciding on bindings for my q-85s

i'm 6', 250lbs, intermediate level skier i'd say level 6. Mostly stick to blue runs, but looking to move on to blacks this season. I was a Level 8 until i stopped skiing back in 1999. Just picked it up again 3 years ago, with the limited winters we've seen in the PNW I haven't had too many days.

I'm torn between the salomon Z12s or STH12s but now thinking due to my weight the STH14s might be a safer option.

I demoed the skis last year in whistler, the bindings on the q-85s there were z10s. I'm about 25-30lbs past the weight limit for those bindings.

Any suggestions?

I'd stay away from the Z12 or STH that has the quadrax toe. The Salomon driver toe has, in this heavy guy's experience, much better retention. Ideally you want your DIN to be in the middle of the binding's spring range. Consider the Salomon Sth2 WTR 13? Should be fine for you.
