I did write "of course any Keystone days could be spent at A-bay." I'm not focusing on A-Basin because it's no cheaper than Loveland, and at 900 acres, it's also half the size of Loveland and a quarter of Keystone. Even more importantly, I'm trying to narrow down my choices, not expand them :) I have nothing against A-Basin, or Monarch, Eldora, or Crested Butte for that matter - I've never skied any of them. Just trying to make some good choices for my first-ever CO ski trip based on my skill level, income, and personal tastes.

1. You're right -- very date dependent. I selected dates slightly later in feburary. I'm not seeing any mention of Vail, just that Breck can be split 50/50 on passes over 3 days or more, unless you upgrade. Maybe it's allowed and just not stated on the website.

2. A-Basin doesn't ski 1/2 the size of Loveland. Loveland is a bit inflated because a few hundred acres are in the Valley (which you won't ski) and most of it is off the Ridge. Which depending on your skill/timing may not be accessible. I'm a season passholder at Love but am under no illusions about it really being 2 times the size of A-bay on anything but paper.

Here's the detail on a 4 day Keystone ticket :

Here's the relevant part :

As a bonus, you get special access that allows you to use up to half the days of your 3 or more day Keystone lift ticket between these resorts.

VailBeaver CreekBreck

So you could actually do 2 Keystone, 1 Breck, and 1 Vail for $340.

sounds like you got it right to me!  Don't get too caught up on the ticket prices.  While it's an issue, you're already invested to go, so hit the resorts that you want to hit, and don't let the lift ticket price stop you because you may not be back for awhile.

Plus, there's going to be all the other random incidentals will take a $20 bill over and over again where after the trip you won't care that you spend $50 more on lift tickets compared to all your other incidentals.

Like the tax on your rental car, or parking at Vail, or just getting a $15 epic burger and a $4 gatorade, or even how you plan the rest of your meals.

It's too easy to overly focus on the lift ticket $ because that;s a number staring at you from the computer and you can plan it now; but don't overthink it too much cause it's going to be lost in the noise later.

I too noticed this somewhat subtle deal on the Keystone website.  It sounded too good to be true so we called and verified.  We are going next week and doing 2 days at Keystone, 1 Breck, and 1 Vail for $348 (this slightly higher price was from just a few days ago)
