Ultra warm jacket...who has an opinion.

I'm thinking I need a new uber coat.

After reading many reviews I'm thinking the Patagonia Fitz Roy in the heavier weight is a good way to go.

This review is convincing..

Before I spend nearly $500 on a jacket I'm wondering what the Bears think of this choice?

Just found this Yeti Ambition down hoodie at Tjmaxx, box baffled 169 grams of 800+ fill european down, I'm thinking it could make for quite a warm mid-layer under a shell -

I don't know much about Yeti, found this review of another jacket which highlights many of the same features as the Ambition -

I also like the ArcTeryx Cerium SV hoodie and Montbell Mirage, both can be used as a mid-layer under a shell -

Haven't tried the Patagonia Fitz Roy, thought about it but every Patagonia jacket I've ever tried has fit like a tent, huge in the body.

Hear you about the fit.

I ordered it, I'll let folks know.

Last year Patagonia had some really strange sizes.

I bought the Fitz Roy jacket in black last year. It is not that stylish since it is a puffy jacket but it is incredibly warm. So warm that I overheat quite quickly if I do any activity that generates a moderate amount of body heat. So, it is a very good jacket and runs slight large so that you can layer underneath. It is really for expedition level activity, in my view
