"The Kaiser" was a beautiful vision racing down the hill in his prime.

I can only imagine what it is to be a cultural hero to a nation, and to earn a nickname like that.

( Both my parents are from Austria and I have a great affinity to that country )

When you look at the risks / speeds / gear the older era of skiers had to deal with , it is mind boggling the fearlessness & courage they had.

I look at downhill skiing now where the snow is all painted to help show them the line, it seems a lot easier now ( but obviously still as dangerous  ).
