TrekChick was the one who welcomed me to EpicSki when I was a newbie, and if not for her, I might not have stayed. If I hadn't stuck around, I would never have met sibhusky, one of my all-time favorite ski buddies and would not have had the pleasure of TrekChick and Philpug's hospitality in Reno. There's being talked down a chute at Squaw and then there is having a transformative experience in a chute at Squaw, and I owe the latter to TrekChick. Besides being a welcoming presence, Tricia encouraged me and a host of other women on EpicSki to meet up, ski with each other and to share our love for the sport. Her enthusiasm for projects like Pretty Faces and her reviews of gear will be sorely missed, and her shoes (or rather, her ski boots) won't be easily filled. Phil and Tricia don't just write about gear and skiing - they eat, sleep and breathe skiing. You can't replace that depth of experience with someone who hasn't touched snow in years.
In the spirit of the OP that solicited suggestions for site improvement, I offer this: when your long time members get worried about who owns forum content, question "staffing decisions" and seek transparency, you've got a PR problem. Meeting these concerns with dismissive and defensive comments does nothing to allay these concerns.
Thank you to TrekChick and Philpug for your reviews, helpful PM's, zany off season polls, Prius vs. VW threads and so much more. Hope to see you around EpicSki, on the slopes in Tahoe and genuinely wish you luck in your future endeavors.
