Vice Pads Degrading — Replacements?

Thread Starter

I own a Toko Ski Race vice, the pads of which have degraded to the point that they don't grip sidewall; I'm not sure why — I've only owned the vice for a couple of years. The pads seem to be crumbling away.

In any case, I should replace them. Does anyone know whether replacement pads are available, or whether there's a good hack for this (cut up bike tires or something)?

Thx.

I bought some high density rubber at Grainger to use as spoilers in my boots.  Neoprene I believe.

Cut a piece off and gorilla glued it on my vice.
