I'm with PP. We've had an S6 Avant in the family, and just never warmed up to the Allroad. We owned a V70 AWD wagon, and never liked the V70XC. I'm driving a 2005 Legacy GT wagon, which I bought CPO in 2007, and intended to drive for "maybe a year…." It's been a great car for me, and great in the snow. 135K miles, and knock on wood running well. Cosmetically, it's showing that it's an 11 year old Subie. Doesn't bother me, yet. I'm dreading replacing it. I think my choice is a lightly used Audi, and I'm not sure that it's a wise one. It may be an Outback….by default.
Our daughter has a 2009 Outback XT. It's graphite gray, and the trim on the wheel wells is the same color, so to me it looks just a bit less like an Outback. She's in Denver…..great car for the weekend warrior drives.
Just never been a fan of adding the body trim, or "cladding" to give a wagon a more brutish look. I'll be interested to see the car when VW rolls it out, But I'm afraid that I'll have a hard time coming back into the VW fold.
