Hello guys,
Embarking on buying my first pair of skis, I ski mainly northeast groomers, am advanced level, 6'1" and 210 lbs, any experience or advice re. Either skis... And any advice re. Bindings
All is much appreciated, Emad

You managed to pick two of the least sexiest skis in the industry. For an advanced skier of your stature I'm sure you can find something better to crush the corduroy on. Keep digging.

I kinda agree with Shopgimp, while these are "nice" options, neither get my blood flowing either. You are a bigger guy so I think you might get more out of these skis than I did (I am not sure how big of a guy ShopGimp is) but I found them to be a bit lifeless. Between these two, I like the Rossi a bit better but not a fan of the system binding that comes with the ski, you have no choice here. The Salomon can be had flat and you can have options to what you want to put on it from the same brand Sth2 13 to a Look Pivot.

6', 180lbs. If I was back in New England I'd probably be on a pair of Volkl RTM 84s…or I'd at least have one of those in the quiver.

I can use some help...plz.

I demoed the Atomic Blackeye Ti last season and found it altogether boring.  A friend also demoed it and thought the same thing.  It is a good solid ski, good edge grip but no pop and no fun.  The Atomic Vantage 90CTi was an entirely different story, plenty of pop, good edge grip, fun to ski and nice rebound.  But I weigh 60 pounds less than you and 90mm might be a bit wide for eastern groomer skiing.  The new Head Monster 88 might be a candidate as well as the Kastle MX83 and Elan Amphibio 84 XTi Fusion.

mtcyclist nailed a good one with that Elan 84Xti Fusion. Get that and the Ripstick and you'll have the northeast dialed.

Is there a big difference between the 2015 and the 2016 ? I know 2016 is cambered, and a lot more expensive
post #13 of 13

haven't tried 2016, but what I've heard (rumors) that cambered version is more stable, but full rocked version is more "alive" easier to turn, etc. Maybe you should demo them if have some doubts.
