I'm a Belgian racer and like most racers I tune my skis by hand.
I'm happy about my tuning results, but as I train every Saturday and Sunday I'm waxing my skis and tuning the edges every week.
There's a guy in the ski team who is pretty good (about 50 FIS points) and he uses a small machine for tuning edges. He told me it was about €600, so I guess it should be something like a "Toko edge tuner evo" for example.
He tunes his edges only once a month, he trains even a bit more than I do and his edges are extremely sharp. It still feels like a razor blade after a month (about 8 full training days!!!).
Now I'm thinking about buying such a sort of machine myself as I spend a lot of hours tuning my skis, I also do it for family, friends, etc. But first I would like to ask if anyone of you has experience with such a machine?
Is it worth the investment you think? How is edge tuning actually done on World Cup level? Are they doing it by hand or do they use this kind of machines?
