FS - Salomon SX 91 Equipe Rear Entry Boots Size 320

I was interested in getting my hands on a pair, and bought these last spring thinking they might fit me, as my 27.5 boots have a 317 BSL, but later found out the SX boots used a different sizing system. (Couple of posts here on that.) I'm more of a 340-345 - 320 is more like a 25. Girlfriend's boots have a 285 BSL, and she can get into these. She's not interested though, so before I try CL or eBay thought I'd put them up here...

Some light scuffs and scrapes but otherwise are in pretty good shape. Would like to get $40, plus buyer pays for shipping of choice. Each boot weighs 3 lb 12 oz, so I'm guessing boxed the total shipping weight would be about 9 lb.

PM me if interested.

What is the boot sole & what size do you think these are?

I measure the BSL to be about 288. Based on the post of someone more knowledgeable than I the size should be about a 25.

This may also be useful for general info...

Keep in mind that describes the SX 92, even though it does mention some of the differences with the SX 91.

I had my girlfriend get into the SX 91 again today with a smartwool thin sock. She has a bit of a bunion and her foot is apparently too wide up front, even with the instep adjustment opened up all the way, otherwise the length was ok for her and the other adjustments left her feeling snug but reasonable - standing and walking around in the house, not skiing.  ;-)

Here's an outline I made of her foot in the sock...

That's a bit surprising - I'm a men's 10.5 in a street show, and I have a wide foot, but we're just about the same width at the widest point! She's a women's 8.5, but typically has to wear a 9 in order to get some extra width.

I suspect this SX 91 would fit/adjust ok for someone with roughly the same length foot, but a little less wide up front.

Ha- that's near spot on to my size!

I would definitely put an intuition liner in those.  Skied that boot from '84 to 96 or so.  At the time I really liked them, but then again my previous boots were Hansons.

Funny; I went to a SX90 after the Hansons, then Nordica 980, then Raichle Flexon, then Lange for about a decade, now Dalbello Krypton.

What boot are you in now?

Maybe Salomon measured differently, but I've been in 25 shells for 20 years, and all BSL's have been in the 296-298 range I think. 288 sounds more like a 24-24.5 mebee?

Alpine is a 5 or 6 year old Lange WC120.  Can be a hazard to walk in, but I never feel it gets in the way of my skiing.

Given that the stock SX liner is backward in a sense from a regular liner - the tongue is on the back side  - and all the other things that are different about the SX and its adjustment mechanisms - I was wondering if a regular liner could work in an SX boot.

Have you (anyone?) actually tried doing that?

In general you seem to be right, but it does vary a bit depending on make/model...

You folks who skied SX boots and then moved on to other designs, what were your impressions when you made the change? Did you feel that your skiing improved? What about fit and comfort?

If there were an updated SX-like boot available would you consider trying it?

JC, I have not put another liner in them.  My liners were so toast and I had no idea until I put on a new boot. Most of those years I only skied a few days.  So the new boots were more comfortable with the better liners and I really like the progressive feel of the 4 buckle Lange.  I skied the SX91 with the stifness slider most of the way up and they felt a bit like a brick in reflection and if I put it down they felt like mush.

The horses have been led, but apparently aren't thirsty.    ;-)
