Music While Mountain Biking

I was on a group ride at a JORBA  Event called the JORBA Jungle Jam.  JORBA stands for Jersey Off Road Bike Association.  Jungle Jam is because they held an event at a defunct drive through safari/zoo.  Nice trails a lot of up and down, pretty rocky and techy in a lot of places.  A little weird as you might ride by an old overgrown fountain in the woods or be on a trail paralleling 16 foot tall fences or that goes in between large fuel or water tanks half buried in the ground...

But that's not what I am writing this post about.  It was at this event on a lead intermediate ride with a bunch of guys that I found myself behind a rider blaring music out of his camelback.  I tried dropping back so I wouldn't have to hear it and eventually gave up that strategy and passed him as I kept coming back up within earshot.  Then he became a bit of incentive for me to keep on the gas just to avoid his tunes.  I know it was a group ride with lots of other groups large and small in on the same trail system so he was not exactly disturbing the peacefulness and quietude of the forest...but I still found it rude and annoying.

On a more positive note I demoed a Santacruz 5010.  Perfect bike for me...lighter and more nimble than my Hei Hei while feeling better balanced and more stable at the same time.  Not ready to spend 5 - 6K for a bike though!!!

Yeah..I dunno..I would never personally ride with someone who was using either audible music or headphones.  Whatever floats your boat I suppose.
