2015-16 EpicSki regional and resort threads, U.S. & Europe

Are you interested in finding someone to ski with in a specific region?  Or want to ask for a little planning advice but don’t want to start a separate thread?  For many places, there are on-going regional threads for 2015-16.  Mostly for the U.S. but there is one for Europe and others could be added later.

The easiest way to find ongoing regional threads is to go to the home page of Resorts, Conditions & Travel (under Mountain/Resort).  Go to that webpage and roll over text in blue to access the link for the topic of interest.  Also the easiest way to find out if a ski area/resort has an EpicSki Unofficial Guide because they are noted on the List of Resort Ambassadors.

You can use the menu bar Forums drop down or the Forum Nav drop down at any time to change sub-forums.

For Gatherings or on-going resort threads, go to the home page of Getting Together, Gatherings (under EpicSki Community).  Roll over text in blue to access the link for the topic of interest.  Regional Gatherings may be added later.

BUMP for November 2015

Just added a thread for European conditions.

Can always use the Forums drop-down to get to the Resorts, Conditions & Travel sub-forum under Mountain/Resort to access the latest list of links for all ongoing regional and resort threads.

Put a link to the Resorts and Getting Together sections on the sticky note for General Skiing.

BUMP

If someone wants to create a thread for Big Sky, Jackson Hole, Whistler, or anywhere in Canada, be happy to add them to the list.  Recommend that "2015-2016" be in the thread title.

An example of what you can potentially learn from an on-going regional thread.  This was posted on 11/20/15 in the Colorado thread.

See Post #1 to see how to find a list of all on-going regional or resort threads for 2015-16.

Just because it is early season and a work day I still need to leave by 5:30 a.m.  I thought I would wait for the rush hour traffic to clear and then go.  Bad idea.  Nothing to indicate anything bad happening.  Electronic signs giving the normal type of times to US 40 and the Tunnel.  No snow.  I thought everything was good.  Didn't hit snow until Floyd Hill.  As I progressed to Georgetown the snow increased.  Even with it snowing hard there was only maybe an inch or two on the road.  Get to Georgetown and BAM.  I almost get taken out by some pathfinder 100%  out of control.  As in left lane to right lane off the road and back across to the left lane.  He missed me by 2'.  All because traffic came to an abrupt stop and apparently he laid on his brakes.  Ok  I figure there is an accident on the hill so I get off and go the welcome center.  They don't know what's going on either  but can see the CDOT trucks across the road on the tv monitors.  While I'm there they close I70.  "Safety Closure".   No reopen time. Awesome.

So as others predicted, here and in other threads,  apparently CDOT will be much more aggressive with road closures and chain / tire requirements.  I agree with those that say we will never see a code 16.  Speaking of CDOT, the closures didn't show up on the trip app.  They used twitter.

BUMP for December 2015

See Post #1 for the easiest way to find on-going threads for popular regions and destination resorts.  Good way to find out the latest conditions or look for someone to meet up with for a few runs.

Resort meetup threads now include Sun Valley and Jackson Hole & Grand Targhee.

If someone wants to create a thread for Big Sky & Bridger, Whistler, or anywhere in Canada, be happy to add them to the list.  Recommend that "2015-2016" be in the thread title.
