Rather than starting a new thread, figure the following info is most relevant to the Big Bear/SoCal neighbors and am taking the liberty of posting here.
I went to SkiDazzle at LA Convention Center for the first time on Sunday. It was much smaller than I expected with gears and clothing mostly catering to snowboarders. I understand the heydays were in the 80's...
The highlights of local interest for me were:
1) Free Brian Head lift tickets. Everyone on their emailing list receives one ticket; however if you roll a 7 or 11 on a pair of dice, they offer an additional ticket. I was pleasantly surprised with my two comp tickets for an upcoming road trip.
2) Mts Baldy and Waterman were offering $15 single day or 4 for $40 (can share with family&friends) lift tickets. Knowing so little about Waterman, I've placed my bet on Baldy. If I just ski 1-2 days for the season, it would be a worthwhile $40 purchase.
3) The Westin Monache Resort's $199 deluxe studio suite offer was intriguing. However, westinmammoth.com/skidazzle link only provided a few days of availability over the next two weeks and none for Jan-Feb at all. Perhaps Friday/Saturday attendees snagged most rooms up already, or it was simply a gimmick.
