How to attach a lanyard for the new RMSP(+) pass?

I got my new pass, and the hole is an inch down into the card. Typical lanyards can't go through a hole like that. I suppose I could just tie some form of ribbon or tiny rope through it ... how are you going to attach it? For Copper, I still need to display it.

Zip tie through hole, lanyard through zip tie.

Thank you. Simple and effective.

If I remember correctly, the paper the pass was stuck to mentioned that some sort of clip is available at Copper and Winter Park. I was impatient and went the zip tie route.

I must have been super impatient, because I didn't even notice that.

I use a key ring on my RMSP. Then I use a clip on my jackets and that makes it easy to transfer from one to another.

Have you received your new one this season? Hole is in a different place. You can still use a key ring, but it will have to have a larger diameter.

Is the RMSP RFI now?  I ask this because my Steamboat pass came with the hole down about an inch as well. It also came with a letter telling me that if I put another hole in the pass, it could damage the RFI chip.

Yes, just Steamboat and WP though. Copper is still scanning.

Here is a copy of the email I got dated 15 August:

Dear [segbrown],

This season, we are excited to announce the implementation of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) lift access technology called QuickTrax™ at Winter Park Resort and Steamboat. At these two resorts, you will be able to carry your pass in your pocket and simply pass through a hands-free gate system located at designated base lifts. Cards embedded with QuickTrax technology will replace the traditional lift ticket, season pass, and pack product.

In early September, we will be mailing you a NEW pass. Your new QuickTrax enabled pass will be embedded with RFID technology. It will still have your picture, name, and a barcode for easy usage at our other Ski Colorado resorts like Copper Mountain and Eldora Mountain Resort. At these resorts, you will have your barcode scanned.*

Since EVERYONE is getting a new pass this season, it’s a great time to update your photo! Don’t forget to DISCARD YOUR OLD PASS. It will no longer work. Below is the mailing address we have on file for you.  If it is not current, please log into your account and update any other out of date information like your phone number or photo before August 15, 2015 so you will receive your 2015-2016 Season Pass in plenty of time for the winter season!

[name and address]

We're looking forward to seeing you on the mountain this winter!

Sincerely,

The Ski Colorado Team

*Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus passholders will still need to pick up a physical lift ticket at Crested Butte and Alyeska's ticket office when you visit.

Yes, but inelegant (<- kind of like that word). It would seem they bought into an RFID technology that didn't take into account the location of the technology in the pass with regards to lanyards. I understand A-Basin not using scanners, they are small and only have a few lifts where they check tickets, but Copper? You'd think they'd be all over it.

Yeah - it's disappointing. And you're right - they ought to have done it better.

I'm planning to use one of those plastic badge holders that you get for like work badges or conventions.
