2016 Volkl 100Eight - any reviews and sizing recommendations?

Wondering if anyone out there has skied the 2016 Volkl 100Eight and your thoughts as an all around Western ski (I'll still have a wider powder ski)? I liked the Gotama in a 186, but would have preferred just a bit more nimbleness. I think the new 100Eight's might be a good option (also still considering 2016 Cochise which I also demoed the last version at Jackson in February), but the lengths are different than the Gotama at either 181 or 189. I'm 6ft. and 200b, but I'm hesitant to go longer than @ 185cm so I can manage moguls and trees at my age (45). So, curious on any reviews on this ski any any feedback on it at different lengths? First post to EpicSki, so thanks in advance!

Last Spring I skied the 181 100eight for about 3 weeks. It's definitey more playful than the Gotama. To me (take that for what it's worth), it skied short. I skied it in crud, pow, slush, and on frozen groomers. A fun ski. But for me, if it was my daily driver, I'd go with the 189. The 181 was just a slalom ski for me - effortless short and medium radius turns. One just has to give it a little tip pressure and it turns. A very fun ski, just not big enough for me (5'9", 192 lbs.). Felt like I could "over ski" the tip if I really tried hard enough.

Don't get me wrong. It's an awesome ski. And I think most of the public will go crazy for the 181. I just need the 189.

Realize that the 189 was not in the production run for Spring skiing/testing, so nobody (as far as I know) has skied one.

Hope this helps.

Need more specifics? Ask away.

I also skied it late last year and I think it is a significant improvement over the outgoing Gotama which I was not a fan of at all. Lie Harkin said, it is much more playful than the current Goat was and a feel that actually brought it back the the original Gotamas, which IMHO is good. I did find that I was between sizes with the 181 being a bit short and the 189 would be a bit cumbersome in tighter situations, but that is me, I am more of a finesse skier than I think Harkins is. IMHO a 184-185 would be perfect.

Thanks HarkinBanks and Philpug - will be interested to see any reviews come in on the 189 in time.
