The New England Gathering is rather informal in that there's not really a set itinerary, etc.  So much of what we wind up skiing depends on the conditions, and -- in New England -- the conditions can vary widely from day-to-day.  It's more about skiing with fellow EpicSki members than it is about "skiing every possible line in four days".  We tend to wind up skiing something of everything though, from groomers, to bumps to trees.  But we've had icy days in the past where we never left a groomer, and we've had powder days where we never saw a groomer.  Nobody is ever pressured into skiing something that they don't want to try.  i.e., there's always a way around and we will always wait up.

So, in essence, some ability to ski ungroomed terrain would help, but you don't have to be a bump / glade / powder skiing expert.  My glade skiing prowess -- or rather, the lack thereof -- is well known and I run the gathering, so...  If you have a willingness to try skiing some new terrain with some really cool people and you're able to ski in a manner such that you don't endanger anybody, you are welcome to come.

Thank you KevinF! I'm a solid intermediate skier who have only skied groomers and definitely plan on joining and meeting every one during the Gathering. I hope to improve before then.

I'll announce dates and locations, etc. in another month or so.

A local discount site has a 50% off sale on weekday Smuggs tickets, fyi. I know dates and places are not set in stone yet, but still...

I've eyeballing this thread thinking about how I could squeeze in one more ski trip to the two planned for Sunday River (late Jan.) and Killington (early March). I've never skied Stowe and Smuggler's, but would like to and meet up with you fine folks. The deal maker or breaker is a friend with a time share at Smuggler's that used to ski a lot and sounded interested in revisiting it possibly. This would bring the wife and I with our friend, but I would need to get her on board! We typically ski the Poconos for our day trips and got her to commit to a day with us this season. Not sure what date restrictions that time share would present, but I suspect later (April 1-4) would be better?

It's always fun to ski with this group and really great to be guided around these mountains by those who know them.

So there is the voting thread:  http://www.epicski.com/t/143370/2016-new-england-gathering-let-the-voting-begin where you can cast your vote for the date(s) and location(s).

Currently the leaders are Stowe and Sugarbush in mid-March, but I'll leave the poll up for a few more weeks before announcing the winners.

Bribing the New England Gathermeister (that would be me :D) with large quantities of gold bullion would ensure an early April trip to Stowe and Smuggs.  :cool
