I am planning a family ski trip to the Northeast area, driving up from New York city. Looking for a (not too small) ski resort/mountain that offers good and long green runs for my daughter and my wife. My daughter is 12 and a border, and she really enjoys those nice green runs. I am a border/skier that can do all runs/trails but the focus here is my daughter/wife's joy!
Lately, we've already been to Snowmass, Brecke, Keystone and Snow Summit (Big Bear) in CA, which despite its size and snow conditions, it is a pretty nice mountain since you can come down all the way from the summit to the bootom on a green run and the condos at the Snow Summit base are very nice and not very expensive.
Also we are looking for a ski resort that is not "that much" expensive and doesn't overprice its lifts and lodging options. And I really don't mind driving for more than a couple hours to reach it, since I know those decent mountains are far above NY.
Our plan is to leave New York by Jan 21 (2016) and stay at the ski resort until Jan 30.
So... FOCUS list would be:
- Resort with long green runs that (best if) comes all the way from the summit to the bottom;
- Good lodging options (Condos or places witl full kitchen and nice bedrooms) but NOT overpriced or too expensive;
- Driving (for some hours...) is not a problem;
- Not (too) pricey ski resorts (lift and specially lodging);
- Good snow conditions and areas with a nice snowfall average.
Places that I've already looked up:
Okemo - lodging options seemed expensive;
Camelback - but this one particullarly seemed to be pricey (for lodging), probably beacuse of its location (close to NY) and the mountain looks a little bit small, despite having (on the map) nice greens summit to bottom.
It seemed to me that Sunday River and/or Sugarloaf would be good choices for mountain and decent prices, but I will wait to hear from you guys.
Thanks in advance for all the help and hand given here.
Best and Regards,
