I drove from SF to Reno yesterday and last night. I wasn't expecting much traffic, since it was the middle of a long holiday weekend, but I was pretty much dead wrong. Took 7 hours SF-Reno, with bumper to bumper traffic basically the whole way up, starting around Fairfield. I don't know how some of you guys deal with that commute on the regular. I don't mind taking a long road trip, but traffic like that just grates on my nerves.
Anyways, I spent a couple hours at Rose today. Good chalky snow, with some fun bumps on Gold Coast. Lots of people there -- it looked like all the parking lots were nearly full -- but I was skiing during lunch time so the crowds outside weren't too bad. I hiked Wild Card for the first time, but I was skiing solo (like most days) and I didn't want to get too lost so I think I kind of cut myself short with finding untracked stuff. Oh well, since I was by myself it was probably better that I follow tracks to not get lost. Then Rose side was a zoo, so I didn't bother with that too much. Still a good couple hours up there though.
