Good to hear from another Cville-area rider. I do most of my local skiing at Wintergreen and Massanutten, with a couple trips a year to Timberline/Canaan Valley/Snowshoe. I'm probably familiar with some of the secrets at Wintergreen, would love to exchange notes with you sometime. To address a couple other points from earlier in the thread:
1) The glades at Canaan valley will be between the Prosperity and Dark Side of the Moon trails. This was noted on the DCSki thread.
2) Blue Knob is definitely worth checking out. I have done this as a day trip from Charlottesville - leave my house at 5:00 am, get to BK at 9:30 am, leave BK at 4:30 pm, home by 9:00 pm. There are many cheap places to stay in Bedford on the way to BK (45 minutes away) so if you don't feel like driving for 9 hours roundtrip in a single day you may want to check out that option. As MarzNC said, wait for a good snowfall before heading out and be aware that the trail report has been known to be really inaccurate.
