Not sure I see the big deal with magic carpets. When my kids were 3-4 years old, they got a big kick out of riding a chairlift. It was like an amusement park ride for them. Of course I was using a harness/leash system until they were able to stay in control on their skis (age 4 for the more avid skier, age 5 for his brother).
June Mt.'s Silverado beginner trail starts at the top of the mountain and goes for 2.5 miles, served by a high speed chairlift. I would think this is the kind of run that would appeal most to novice skiers, adult or child.
My daughter started on a slope that only had lifts when she was three. And the only reason she skied was to get TO the lift. It was all about the ride in the sky.
