It's hard to argue with that list for Colorado. The omission of Copper and Winter Park from both Forbes lists undermines their credibility a lot IMHO.
I don't see that the PCMR-Canyons merger in itself changes the equation for families. It depends upon what other changes VR makes at those resorts. I can say for Vail that both of my kids had 2 days in ski school there at age 5 and both loved it and progressed substantially.
Xela's points are excellent. Vail's ski school may be superb, but many families with young children will not be willing to shell out the price, especially for a whole week. Given typical ages of parents with young kids and the numerous financial demands of raising a family, it seems to me that one should give a nod to price sensitivity in compiling a family friendly list. As a long-time Forbes subscriber, I'm guessing their writers don't think much about that.
