Should have posted this on this site, but did it on Facebook. So, here's a copy/paste.
This was from my trip Jan 5-7....
It was an EPIC frigging day at Mammoth today (Thursday, Jan 7th)! Probably one of my top three ski days ever, and off hand I can't think of the other two. Bluebird morning after a three day storm dumped between 30" and 43" inches of snow on the old gal. Skied with a friend today and first headed to our seldom-used powder stash which delivered knee deep-plus blower on a tree run. Managed to get in line when they opened the top of the mountain and lapped chair 23, Wipeout Chute and Paranoid Flats, again knee deep pow!
Headed to the backside, found more knee deep in the trees. Hiked up Hemlock Ridge (my first time to do so...I HATE hiking) and (unbeknownst to us at the time) managed to drop in on the longest and steepest section, in...you guessed it...knee deep (or deeper) pow!!
As you know, the West has been in a four year snow drought. If today is any indication of the next three months, it's going to be a unbelievably epic season. And it's about time."
Going up again tomorrow night, skiing Tues-Thursday (Jan 19-21). Anyone going to be around? As of now, I'm skiing alone so would love some company!! PM me....!
