I haven't been skiing on the East Coast for years, so take this with a grain of salt. The width, sidecut and flexy nature of the ski really make it excel off-piste and soft conditions. I've skied mine on what we consider icy conditions at Alta, and they're not exactly confidence-inspiring on an icy groomer. I also ski Volkl G41s which are fat but stiffer and with more sidecut - they handle ice much better. If you're only going to be skiing in the East, you're probably not going to be able to enjoy the ski's strengths.
