Did VR let them go or did the cheap passes make volunteering unattractive?
A ski pass used to be a nice perk. Now, two good nights tending bar and you've got it covered. Why deal with VR's HR?
One bad thing about the 800lbs gorilla's policies, they are becoming standard industry practice. Not because area's want them, but because insurance companies make them.
Vail abolished the practice. For many volunteers the free pass was not the primary motivation and secondary to their interest in being involved and feeling part of the community.
Amusingly I saw the head of HR freezing his arse off loading the Bonanza lift today. Apparently a few lifties didn't show up and they are so short staffed that the high and mighty had to do some actual work.
