Epicmix Time added to app. Seems like might be useful if it is accurate and works accordingly.

1st stage in a process to be able to do real time traffic shaping? Or just fairly meaningless like the lightboards you get some places where everything is lit amber/red on busy days?

I'm going to selfishly declare this to be bad news. I see this causing crowds to migrate towards short line lifts to get away from the mess that they currently find themselves in (which I'm sure is the point). That will make it harder for those of us with local knowledge work the mountain and find our favorite short lines. :mad

Richard, it might come back to bite them.  Wait until the "average" wait times are posted on Epicski!  Folk will migrate to Loveland and leave us to ski Breck with no one there!

As a Loveland skier, this is my nightmare.

I'm going to start a secret campaign to make people believe Loveland's lines are just as bad for worse skiing. I was already appalled that I had to wait 4 or 5 chairs at Lift 8 last season. Adding a bathroom back there on 8 made it much too family friendly ;).

True, but lets pretend you are hosting some out of town friends and you suggest an easy day on peak 9. All morning you friends have insistenly hinted on a peak 6 run since they have never skied it. Using your breckwisdom after 4-6 new snow on a bluebird sat, you deflect those desires. After a relaxing bagged lunch on the deck of the overlook you start sensing a slight peak 6 mutiny.

Using your breckwisdom and your iphone you squash this mutiny with the knowledge that all day as you have been checking the app the line at peak 6 has hoovered in the 45 min range. You suggest hitting peak 6 in the am the next day. Your friends after a few more chilaxing runs buy you a $12.50 bud light

Sunday rolls around. while prepping for the day with a $8.50 small vailbucks coffee and warm up run you check the app and notice 5 min wait at peak 6. You escort your friends and lap it a few times just in time to miss the out of towner visiting herd clammering to ski the newish and highly marketed peak 6. Your friends buy you a $15.00 stella artois at lunch for your breckwisdom. biggrin.gif

Playfulness aside i agree with you, but for local and frequent visitor to any of the resorts that will be included it could change where one skis, which runs to hit and when, especially on the busy days.

The sheep are going to ski where the sheep are going to ski...the main arteries. This app isn't going to change the mind set of the masses.

Anyone who buys me a Bud Light deserves a 45 min line. We'll never make it to the Setella!

I agree with @habacomike, there are lots of potential pitfalls. And, in the end @Philpug is probably right, sheeple will be sheeple.

The thing with most VRs is you need to know your way around in the first place as the "commutes" can be vast so people can't just swap easily. Ain't nothing gonna ease that mess at chairs 3+4 in Vail or Base of peak 8. What it might mean is some "banker" chairs pick up traffic e.g. 26 at Vail is always crazy quiet and might pick up some of the Lionshead mob.

The "mess" at the bottom of Peak 8 is a lot less than it used to be with the new chair.  It would be even less if they had installed a reasonable loading scheme for it...

Of course he is. That thing is just .... ugh. I avoid the base of peak 8 even harder than ever thanks to that thing.
