There is more to skiing than stats.
The walk is very do-able with little kids. If you are planning to keep stuff there overnight, rent one of the baskets at the locker room. You can access it all day as often as you like for about the same price as a large locker. You can keep the same basket for a few days which will cut down on the schlep. The basket is large enough to accept 2 pairs of ski boots & stuff. The locker room staff is real friendly and helpful - typical Taos.
On another note, the children ski school is in a completely different and separate section of the ski resort. So if your kids are to be enrolled in ski school, best to drive over to the children center and drop them off early. There are temp parking spots at the children for drop off and sign up purposes.
The children ski school is phenomenal and does a really good job. My son spent quite a bit of time in their ski school. He was skiing Al's Run and Walkyie chute with his instructor at 5. He blew pass me at 13.
If you have any teenage kids, sign them up for teen ski week on the big holiday weeks. Best money you'll ever spend.
