Efficiency apartment in Salt Lake City ** is there better than Studio 6 ?

I have come to Salt Lake City before to ski and have always stayed in a Studio 6 efficiency apartment for the three weeks. I have been happy with the facilities on offer and the front desk service has been excellent. Minor stuff like limited selection of channels and sometimes slow wifi could be improved but as I said my stays have been pleasant experiences.

But things were not quite as good the last time and I got the feeling they were skimping on maintenance. I had persistent problems with my door lock and things were looking a little tired.in the room with ciggies burns and general wear.

So my question is would anyone have a recommendation for an alternative. efficiency in the Sandy or Midvale area. Maybe somewhere small that does not make the first two pages of Mr Google.

BTW I have just had a trawl through some Trip Advisors reviews on local efficiency apartments and they seem worse than the Studio 6 reviews.

I would pay a bit extra but am not going wild as I am retired.

So Bears any ideas?

I stay at the Camelot inn & hostel in downtown salt lake it's near a Ira station so I catch an early train to the ski bus in midvale.

Got a very good weekly rate at a Baymont in Murray for a week off Hotwire last year. Huge room with its own jacuzzi tub. Micro fridge only though but decent mid range breakfast + real nice staff. Walk to dine options were only Denny's, BK & Wendy's but Taylorsville and Midvale with plenty more options only short drive. There were a bunch of new hotels neat the Maverik Centre in West Valley that seemed like they'd also be a good bet to me and only a stroll from the hockey.

Well it looks like there is nothing much better than Studio 6 without going to triple the price.

I am about to make a 7 night reservation for the last week in January 2016 at the Motel6 in Midvale. At the weekly rate of $41.28/night it is cheaper than Studio6 and from the photos looks to be recently remodeled  If anything like the remodeled Motel6 in Jackson WY, then the rooms are clean, but tiny with no kitchen but you can get a fridge and microwave for $5/night. WIFI $2.99/night. Dogs stay free.

I have joined AARP (for seniors 50+) and should get an additional 10% off plus free WIFI.

Read the reviews - I'm fairly certain the Motel 6 in Midvale is nowhere near as nice as the Motel 6 in Jackson.

Probably worth a call to the Midvale to ask if they did the same remodel that includes bamboo floors.  If so, probably okay.  I've stayed in a remodeled Motel 6 in a couple places in VA, PA and they were fine for a short stay.  But I never expect much in terms of speed for the WiFi.  Usually arriving late and leaving early so if I didn't have an AARP card, I wouldn't bother paying for WiFi.

I stayed at the La Quinta right next to the Midvale Motel 6 last Jan.  Location is convenient.  Only spent a night at the La Quinta before moving to a shared VRBO house with a few friends, so it was worth paying a bit more for a better breakfast and hot tub after flying in from the east coast.

Thanks for the heads up. Yes there are a lot of negative reviews, so I will skip making a reservation and just show up and check out the room in person.
