Watching the Skier's Chalet in Aspen decay...

Spent some time in Aspen last week -

Yeah, it's really sad.  Such an iconic place.

 

 

FIS wants them to upgrade the race venue for the World Cup.

They are really trying hard to fast track a new hotel for the site and a new high speed lift for 1a,  will almost surely go in next summer.

It will kind of suck, because it will be a construction zone for five years and that's our condo complex at the bottom of Norway.

I rode that lift as a little boy, back in the 60's. We had a condo at a place called "Timberidge", close to that area. I remember the skiers chalet to be a happining place back in the day. I was back there last january to ski ajax with my son, and we drove up to see the old lift. Kinda sad, Dave.

BTW, my son and I are spending Christmas at snowmass, aspen is getting to be a habit for us. Wish we could afford to be there more, but I ain't complaining.
