Looking for resort experts!

Thread Starter

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I figured everyone here skis a lot so it might be a good start.

I work for a 3D mapping startup in the outdoors space, FATMAP. We launched last season at 4 resorts in Europe and are now making a big push to establish a strong foothold at the major resorts in North America for the upcoming 15/16 season. With that being said, we are looking to hire resort experts to help source the content for our various launch resorts.

This is a PAID opportunity in addition to getting free FATMAP access for life, and also affiliate based revenue sharing if you're inclined to go that route and help promote the product. The payment for the services is based on the size of the resort.

What we are looking for

-Resort Expert: You must know the terrain like the back of your hand. This includes terrain of all difficulties and lesser known lines.

-Decent Writer: We don't need you to be a journalist, but we need some decent writing skills. If you've blogged, or written things recently that is a huge plus!

-Passion: You have a genuine passion for this industry and love our product and what we are trying to do.

Resort List

  • Vail
  • Breckenridge
  • Aspen
  • Whistler
  • Revelstoke
  • Jackson Hole
  • Mammoth Mountain
  • Squaw Valley / Alpine Meadows
  • Big Sky
  • Mt Bachelor
  • Alta / Snowbird
  • Crystal Mountain (WA)
  • Alyeska
  • Taos
  • Killington
  • Winter Park
  • Steamboat
  • Copper Mountain
  • Crested Bute

What will this job entail?

You will be writing brief descriptions of all runs on the mountain. Additional "local" info would be very helpful at all, this includes parking, restaurants, tips etc etc.

If you are interested in an opportunity like this, shoot me an email at matt@fatmap.com. Please include in the subject the resort you're an expert at and a brief blurb about yourself. Please include any writing samples if applicable. No need for resumes, or cover letters!

No need for a second introduction Matt...  http://www.epicski.com/t/129201/looking-for-colorado-resort-experts

Well at least you're paying real money this time. The product looks pretty cool on my 24" monitor and I'll bet normal people could see it on their phones. But I prefer to blunder about the mountain until I figure it all out. Good luck!

Are you still serving snacks?

I'll need to check that app out. Are any of the Colorado sites already completed?

I'd be interested too. But I can't give away any stash info or I might "accidentally" get hip checked into a lift tower.

I know the most about Breck and Winter Park. But with that said, I'm not a Colorado native and there's a lot of people here who are and know a lot more.

Started writing here hoping there would be interest. There was a little but not enough to bother making more.

And o yea, Blue Hills, MA too. Know that place like the back of my hand ;)

Your product looks interesting but I'm kinda confused - I looked at the Chamonix demo and you are showing lines that are distinctly offpiste/outside the rope.  The type of person skiing lines like the Rectiligne doesn't or shouldn't need your app. But otherwise it's a bit meh if you're restricted to normal inbounds pistes.

Now translate that to the US.  When you want skinny on Vail do you really mean you want someone to map East Vail for you or simply to identify some nice lines in say Siberia bowl (which might just be any lines).  Or do you want people to fess up their micro lines that go untracked for longest (ain't gonna happen).  There's a big differences between making a punter product and one that locals would recognise & either value or be irate about.  Epic mix stays firmly on the former side at present.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Not looking for micro lines, looking to create descriptions for the actual marked trails.

We are mapping all the side country and backcountry as well, so if you have familiarity in that terrain that is a bonus but not mandatory, we have content curators for many of these zones already.

The feedback is appreciated. Please email me if you have interest in making some decent money.
