Shipping skis to or from Europe

Was wondering if any had shipped skis to or from Europe. If so, how it worked out and who were did you use to do the shipping?

I have had a few pairs of skis shipped to me from France.  I am pretty sure telemark-pyrenees.com used DHL to ship them to me.  No issues and was pretty quick, like a week.

I bought some skis from Telemark Pyrenees before as well. They also used FedEx.

DHL is usually the cheapest, but the service is spotty.

None of them will be as cheap as a check bag on an airline.

I'm starting to see that it's way more expensive than I'd imagined. What I'm seeing is that you might as well just rent skis. I'll talk to a couple of carriers but this does not look viable.

I have no personal experience, but I remember @Tog mentioning using a freight forwarder was cheaper than shipping yourself:
