Utah (LCC/BCC) Presidents Day Weekend 2016

Try to coordinate a 3 day weekend with multiple families and are worried about the crowds.  Past solo trips were Friday - Sunday in mid March 2013 and early Feb 2014 so I those time periods as a basis for crowds.

Would there be a significant difference in crowds be better skiing Friday - Sunday or Saturday through Monday?  Or is President's Day weekend enough of its own beast that we should avoid it at all costs?

Saturday would be Solitude, the other two days would be Alta/Bird.

Welcome to EpicSki!  Would help to know the ability level of the group.  All advanced or better?  Anyone thinking of taking a lesson?  It's been a while since I went to SLC during a holiday weekend.  My friends and I avoided any crowds by skiing Solitude and Snowbasin on Sat and Sun.  With the low snow conditions last winter, Alta had lift lines on a non-holiday Sun because the better skiers on vacation who couldn't change their plans were stuck on groomers a lot more than usual.

It's so close to a city, Alta/Bird can be crowded anytime the skiing's good.

That would be a nice problem to have.

I'm thinking that since more local kids presumably would be off Monday, that Friday to Sunday would be better. Saturday we'll take some refuge at Solitude.

2014 at Alta I was pleasantly surprised by the drop off on Sunday, which a fellow skiier attributed to the local church crowd.

I'm leaning towards
Friday - Snowbird
Saturday - solitude
Sunday - Alta

Friday probably less crowded than Monday given that some people do a family ski trip during the rest of that week even if the kids don't have the rest of the week off.  So they don't arrive until Sat.

The largest crowds that I have ever seen at a ski lift here in Utah were on a President's Day Monday about five years ago. Monday, 15 February, will almost definitely be more crowded than the previous Friday. If you can avoid that weekend, then that would probably be the best, but if not, then I expect you will see slightly smaller crowds Friday to Sunday than Saturday to Monday.
