...or should we really wait for the Route du Sud and see whether Contador has any legs left and whether Quintana trained at all?
The Dauphiné is over - Is it too early to talk Tour?
I think we have to wait. You might be able to rule out certain guys at that point based on whether they suffer overly but I don't always trust that who wins will be there at the end of the Tour. I always wonder if they're playing possum in these races. I looked at Nibali and thought he might be saving something. Van Garderen looked wasted..I mean, he was there..but he looked beaten. Quintana and Contador..we'll see.
I reckon Van Garderen was actually beaten the day he took yellow - Eurosport never actually showed this, but Teejay gapped Froome by a good 20 meters- and the next thing we see is Froome finishing ahead of Teejay by 4-5m. If I could find video of *that* pass...
Saving something? Not sure I got that - maybe but he was mostly riding Sky's wheels with only Scarponi along for help. That ... would make for a pretty clever disguise.

I admit I didn't watch Dauphine at all, not even for second, as I was rather out riding my bike then just watching others ride. :) So I can be totally wrong, but based on results, this years Dauphine wasn't really all that strong as competition goes. Ok I agree nowadays it's more or less 2 man competition when it comes to TdF, unless something like last year happens again. Realistically, Nibali is no competition to Froome and Contador, and if all will go normal way, without crashes and injuries, these two should settle this between themself, and even here I think Contador is stronger one (I hope :) ). Otherwise Astana has probably strongest team, but it depends who will ride on TdF, so Nibali having just Scarponi around is probably not realistic for TdF. If you saw Giro, it was simply impressive seeing pretty much whole Astana team up front on end of almost any stage. while everyone else were shattered all over the course, with in best case one supporting rider next to their captain. But in my mind it's too early to say anything.
Well, it's tough going out on a limb and making a prediction without some qualifiers. I got the feeling in the Giro that Contador was a bit alone in the mountains..I thought Astana had more help for sure. And Sky is stronger. I was a little bit surprised by Aru at the Giro..he was pretty quick..and he's on Astana. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Froome will win the Tour. Contador will have to do the double to win and that's tough, and I feel his team is not there right now. It will be interesting to see what happens with Astana..I don't think Aru can time-trial well enough to compete for the overall. Nibali..not there I don't think. Quintana? Dark horse..we'll see.
So there I am, on a limb, Froome. Fire away!
I hate saying this, I really do because they are not my team but I think Tinkoff will have a pretty strong team for the tour. They deserve a time penalty though for each stage they ride with that kit. Sorry but camo or duck dynasty is not my thing.
Those Giros that Katyusha wear, with the contrasting colour ring in the back? Edit: Giro Synthe
They still look like the bum hole of a frog that gorged itself on watermelon and is about to prove it.
LOL!!! wow true
Yeah some people were saying Nibali was playing possum a week or two ago..
Seems to me lately that TJ just doesn't have enough to finish the deal. He looks thinner this year. Maybe he can stay close to Froome and Contador and podium this year.
Cadel did good while he was racing for BMC
Tejay said he's never felt better so hopefully that's a good sign for him. I think Quintana and Nibali are in a bit of trouble. Both over a minute and a half back..not saying that's the end of the world..but that's a fair bit of time if Froome is on his game. Contador at 0:36 is not so bad off.
Did you see how pissed Movistar were during the stoppage? As Cofidis blithely wander through to start at the front "Who, us?"
All true but unless you are a BMC fan I don't think many expected them to be pushing this hard and doing so well right from the get go. TJ must be in a much better place for this tour. I am waiting to see the classifications after stage 8.

TJ in yellow after the team time trial?
