Busted sideplate on Naxo NX 21 heel piece

Thread Starter

I was looking at my skis the other day and noticed a busted sideplate on my heel piece.  The bindings are the Dynastar branded Naxo NX 21.  They are also known as the Dynastar Legend, Early Tram, and Rossignol Bandit Respect.

the heel piece has two stainless steel sideplates that hold the cocking spring in place.  They appear to be held in place by rivets and sit in a shallow mortise (recess) ob each side of the heel piece.  Beneath the side plate is a steel coil spring.  .  One of the side plates has moved out of its recess and the edge of the coil spring is protruding and is exposed.  Pushing it back in will not work as the side plate is bent out of shape and has developed some slop.

BTW, for those unfamiliar with these bindings, they are decent AT frame bindings, but the company that made them went out of business in 2009.  I have been using these bindings for the past 6 seasons and have put a total of about 90 ski days on them without a problem.

Is there a fix for this or am I out of luck.?   I suspect it is the latter!

BTW, if anyone has a spare heel piece lying around, please PM me.

Naxo went out of business at least in part because the bindings broke. A lot. Your best bet would be to look on ebay if you are committed to Naxo. There are probably lots of half sets of bindings out there. Otherwise, just get new bindings.
