Job Layoffs

Not really funny, but couldn't think of a better place to put it. Speaking from experience.

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SING APORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA.....

Jo can't find a good job because he doesn't have the skills to do anything except assembly work. Now if Joe was a software designer/engineer, or had any of the thousands of technical/professional skills that employers are clammoring for he could pickup a job today paying $50,000 or more each and every year.

Do we really want to go back to an america filled with unskilled labor jobs? I don't, I want America to compete where it competes the best, highly educated, creative jobs like Pharmaceuticals, computers, and other high quality products and services.

For all the complaints about America, we have one of the highest standards of living, longest life spans, greatest freedoms, and most productive workforce in the world. In most of these areas we are ascendent. Trade that in on what, assembly line work? No thank you.

Change is tough, but necessary. I expect the pit coal miners said the same thing about change in their day. Thank god change occured.

Joe should hold out on the job thing and try to ski a bit more this winter.

He could sell of all the import stuff and ski on ?????.(Where are the Iggys when you need them?). Don't sell the razor, some places have grooming codes!

The good snow is still made in North America!
