I really enjoyed the video in "The non-intuitive things we do" thread and have been watching quite a few of the Smarter Everyday videos. I came across another that is quite fascinating as a skier, this one dealing with the physics of ice skating.
I know there have been threads in the past dealing with some movements translating and the possible use of ice skating as a way to work on skiing in the summer. However, I never knew they had 2 edges. With this new information, are there new parallels that come to mind? Where do the comparisons end?
I'm not sure that I can comment on any of this in detail, but it was fascinating to see the hockey stop in detail and how the skiing version is practically the exact same thing.
At the very least, its something interesting to think about in the long wait for November.
