Winston Churchill

Winston Churchill was one of the quickest wits of the 20th Century, a politician who didn't have spin doctors, or script writers, but could cut his enemies down with a word. Here are a couple of examples... (although the veracity of the first is dubious)

He was at a dinner party, sitting beside Lady Astor. He had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol.

Lady Astor: "Mr Churchill, you are drunk"

Churchill: "Madam, I may be drunk, but you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober"
At a similar event...

Lady Astor: "Winston, if I were your wife, I'd put poison in your coffee"

Churchill: "Nancy, if I were your husband I'd drink it."

The gentleman fron Vermont turned gently toward her and responded "You Lose".
