Arab joke

Thread Starter
An Arabian Ambassador to the U.N. has just finished giving a speech, and walks out into the lobby where he meets his American counterpart.

They shake hands and as they walk the Arab says, "You know, I have just one question about what I have seen in America."

The American says "Well your Excellency, anything I can do to help you I will do."

The Arab whispers "My son watches this show 'Star Trek' and in it there are Russians and Blacks and Asians, but never any Arabs. He is very upset. He doesn't understand why there are never any Arabs in Star Trek."

The American laughs and leans over. "That's because it takes place in the future."

So now it's ok to bash Arabs, right? You may have heard of Lou Gherig. He was of German descent, and he took a lot of heat on account of it in the times when he was a youth. The joke at the top of this thread is mean spirited and over generalizes [right, Gonz, Xenophobic] - and its not ok whether it's about Arabs, Jews, Germans, Turks or whatever. An ethnic joke can be funny, but this kind of joke stinks.

Is it relevant that?
a similar joke is making the rounds of Arab capitals!

[Economist magazine, 12/22/01, p.12]

Would this suggest that the joke is xenophobic, cruel, racist, yadda, yadda, yadda, or just in some twisted, but very human way, sort of amusing?

Now that you've given away your age.... do you remember Uncle Joe?
