I realize this is an old conversation, but there are a couple of obvious things to point out.
1. The existence of proform is no big secret, in all industries, pros get big discounts, example, you work at Ford Mtr Co, a dealership etc, you get a really big discount, so you use their products. It is marketing.
2. No body with any brains in the ski industry is paying full price. Ski shops sell most of their inventory by jan 1st.Any thing not sold is tying up cash. So thy start marking it down, especially if color is changing for next year.
3. Because of the nature of the ski market, shops actually pay about x% of suggested retail for inventory.
4. There are normally two forms, varies frm MFC to MFC. Proform is for people who work in the industry, but do not have access to inventory. Proform is typically x% to y% of suggested retail. Shop form is for people who sell skis, ie have access to inventory. Shop form is normally about x% below proform, typically x% to y% of sugg retail.
