Southern Colorado/Norhtern New Mexico Trip

Mrs. Skicrazy and I couldn’t make the trip to Jackson with the Bears this year due to employment conflicts and other bad excuses.

We are, however, going to do a short trip to the Wolf Creek, Durango, Taos area. We’ve skied Wolf Creek and Purgatory many times, but have never been to Taos.

We need cheap, clean lodging (with a HOT TUB!) and suggestions for good, but reasonable, dining.

Our dates look like Feb 7th – 10th.

Any suggestions? :

Mr/Ms Skicrazy-

I'm not sure what the rates are, but consider the St. Bernard at Taos! It's slopeside, very quaint, and food is comparable (maybe even better!) to anything you'd find in Vail, Aspen, or Deer Valley. It would be an experience you'll never forget!

Jean Mayer, the proprietor, and his brother Dadou, are both amazing skiers, and work on the ski school there.

For any ski work, check in with Alain Veth, former French Nat Team/ pro racer (also on the ski school). His shop is second to none at the mtn.

For the real locals tour of the mtn, check in with Peter Donohue, or Doug DeCoursey at the ski school.

But for the best of Taos, be prepared to do a little hiking! When Kachina Peak is on, it's incredible!

Have a great trip!

Lots of good places to eat in Durango. Steamworks is always good for basic food, DSP for pizza, Carvers, Jean Pieres,... All very reasonable. There are many others. If you want to spend more Ken and Sues, ...
