WTB: 100mm brake for Salomon/Atomic STH2 WTR 13

Any leads on these, bought bindings from Backcountry with 100mm option, never opened them and now that I am about to mount them and opened the box - no brakes inside ?

Backcountry.com claims no brakes come with these - I am wondering what is the 100mm option in their drop down menu? Anyway, these either go back unless I find 100mm brake soon.

Some Salomons were shipped without the brakes in the boxes, the brakes were shipped separate, ether way brakes should be included in the price, they were not priced a la carte.

I thought so, if you look at Backcountry.com site it does give you option (the only one) of 100mm. Atomic STH2 13 WTR

http://www.backcountry.com/atomic-sth2-13-wtr-ski-binding?s=a

However, in live chat, their rep told me that these are sold without brakes and they do not have them in stock either. So no resolution there from Backcountry.com.

If it sounds too good to be true ...

I've been a frequent Backcountry.com customer, and that response is 100% BS. I'd raise the issue again with them. The MSRP that they show for the binding is the price including brakes. They should make some concession.

You can buy the brakes from Al's Ski Barn. 90mm, 100mm, 115mm, 130mm options.

They aren't cheap. $40, plus shipping. But, they do have them in stock.

Good luck.

I did talk to Backcountry.com and the concession I got was to return the item, and after some discussion they agreed to pay return shipping charges ($6.95). It is OK, I will just end up buying STH2 13 from somewhere else, pay little bit more and think/search harder next time when I am ready to buy something.

Still poor form, IMO, for an online retailer as big as Backcountry. I find some of their people to be helpful and knowledgable, and some pretty clueless. I would have never thought to check on this, for example, and over the past two seasons, I've probably bought a dozen pairs of Solly bindings. Good binding, BTW.

For the record, it does say "brakes not included" in the product description... however still misleading having brake width in the drop down.

We can start new thread about online retailers customer service and Backcountry.com

My experience with them was nothing but stellar and I would give them benefit of the doubt. They are still the premium online retailer with generous return policy and good customer service.

I hope they record/review their online chat and customer complains and improve and correct their site deficiencies.

And yes, it was brought to my attention (today) that it does say at the bottom of "description" section "brakes not included". I admit not getting that far in reading "description" of the binding. I knew what to expect from this binding, I do not need description, orange/blue. I look at the price, option (100mm) and "add to cart". Same binding in Salomon version (115mm) does come with the brake? Tricky little one liner, Backcountry.com should and could do better.

Moderator can close this thread since bindings are in the mail back to retailer and I do not need 100mm brakes anymore.

I bought the atomic sth13 (with 115) with skis around April15 from backcountry.  I have sales receipts and can take pics if you want but it's not going to help you.

My item came Brakes came in a ziplock bag not in the atomic box, but in the overall cardboard shipment

(bag is labelled salomon and has parts sticker on it with some item numbers and barcodes on it).

At the time there was 115 in the drop down box option (see the sth2 16 for example).

There were other options such as "100 mm" there at the time too.

I cannot remember if description included the "brakes not included" line.

So not sure if it helps you, but even 1 month ago they were shipping brakes out with that particular item, so not sure if they ran out of brakes and just lazily added the line to the part description but didn't change any of the part options,   or someone screwed up with your order.

Nobody screw with the order, rather somebody decided that same binding with 115mm brake could be sold for the given price and the binding with 100mm brake could be sold with the same price without the brake. And the note of that would be buried in "item description" very last line. According to their rep, drop down option only means that you "can" put a 100mm brake if you have it or acquire it from elsewhere.

Sorry, but these bindings come with brakes. Salomon just shipped the brakes separate to the dealer. There is no reason you should have to return these, someone on their end is making a mistake, it is just a matter of another e-mail or better a phone call.

You had a bad experience so it's natural to have conspiracy theories.  But here's some more data, take it or leave it

The backcountry item number is unchanged as when I bought it.  In my order history, I can click through on my completed order and get to the same page.

So it is not a different "item" it is the same item that I bought and I got brakes on April15.  If something changed since then so be it, I can't speak for backcountry.  But if you bought on April15 same as me, I think you would have gotten brakes.   Could be a case of you snooze you lose (btw my purchase was also 10% cheaper than it is now)

You can just get the sth2 16 and get the brakes that way

Why "conspiracy theory" ?  How your "data" relates to my experience? And what if I bought on April 16th? And why are you talking if you can not "speak for backcountry"? I am not getting your point ? How your past relates to my present?

However, I am glad that you had a great experience purchasing from Backcountry.com

it related because you're under the impression that they are tricking you.

quote: "If it sounds too good to be true ..." and "Tricky little one liner"

I interpret those words as you are feeling this deal was a "bait and switch" that the deal never existed and backcountry was out to trick you.

My data  is to show you that not only did the deal exist at that real, but was even actually a better deal.  So nothing was a "trick" or "too good to be true"; and if they're out now, it's more likely that it's mistake/human error due to running out of stock or losing the brakes in the warehouse + a bad lazy update to the website description and not a "trick" but just human error.

You're the one asking about your purchase issue and why they had a 100mm option;  if you're not interested in taking in info about another person buying the exact same thing and getting a different result; then i won't bother typing anymore.

I'll throw your same BS antisocial question back at you. if you're not looking for info or experiences from anyone else, why did you bother posting in a forum?

If 3 other people post and say "I ordered on April 20th and got brakes", and "I ordered on May5th and got brakes", "I ordered yesterday and got brakes", wouldn't you want to know this info?

I am sorry that your "interpretation" of what I am "feeling" somehow got "interpreted" the wrong way.

All I wanted is to know if anyone can guide me where to purchase a brake for STH2 WTR 13 since mine did not come with one although I was under impression that it would. And thankfully some people did note that there is an option of purchasing brake separately. Combined price was much higher than returning it to backcountry and purchasing binding with the brake included from another site.

And please if anyone finds STH2 WTR 13 for under $138 with the brake included, please let us know.

i can do that binding any brake for 135.00

No reason for you to get offensive IMO. OP is perfectly reasonable. No one sells bindings without brakes. Shouldn't have to read all the fine print to find out they lost the brakes.
