Setting aside the currency exchange rate for just a moment (though it does factor in for us Canucks), when I want to buy some lightweight item for $50 and the shipping is $40, plus Customs.....it's patently absurd.
I understand that skis, for example, are big and heavy and cost to ship. I get it. But for "normal" items, shopping online with companies located in the good ol' U S of A becomes utterly prohibitive for those of use located outside the US.
On the upside, it often means I support locals brick and mortar shops......or second hand Kijiji or swap sales.
That said........I have, on several occasions, gotten American items drop-shipping to Niagara Falls, NY and then drove there, took a half day of time time, plus gas, plus wait times at the border........and it's STILL a better deal than paying for shipping to Canada.
My question to you American retailers: is it honest-to-goodness THAT much more expensive to ship to Canada? I truly feel like I'm being taken advantage of when trying to order online from American retailers. I would LOVE to support you retailers here at EpicSki, I truly would.......but those "awesome deals" ending up costing an absolute fortune in the end.
