Who wants to meet and ski in SLC after the Academy?

Unfortunately, Skier_j and I will not be attending this years Gathering in Jackson Hole. I will miss the Bears in what will surely be a very awesome event!

I'm putting out the offer to anyone else who can't attend the JH Gathering, to join us Friday at Snowbasin, and for Saturdays skiing in the SLC area to be determined apres ski Friday night.

If you're interested in this, post here.

Got another cool idea for the SLC area, post Academy? Post here.

Want to debate the whole JH vs. SLC thang? Post somewhere else, that's not what this is about.

Just lookin for company! :
************************************************** ************

Below is a list of people who have expressed interest in skiing Snowbasin on Friday right after the Academy, with the possibility of getting together on subsequent days.

This is not written in stone. No one is obligated in any way. I just thought a quick glance at this thread would be a way to find out who may be there.

PM me if you'd like to be added or taken off this list. Thanks!

Bonni

Thanks for the invite. As I have stated in other threads, if I don't get to JH, I'll want to hook up and ski in the SLC area. Snowbasin would be great, as far as I'm concerned. I think you'll find others will be happy to ski there as well. My wife and I are not very advanced in terms of skiing, but we're easy to please (at least I am ), easy to get along with, and will be willing to ski pretty much anywhere the group wants to ski after the Academy. Thanks again.

nice idea, Bonni! that's the best solution to inability to travel to JH. I hope you folks have a great time in SLC.

Bonni,
I may be around SLC after the JH gathering - haven't thought that far ahead yet. If I am, I'd love to ski with you guys.

Mark and I will probably join you. As much as I would LOVE to go to JH, vacation time is limited, and taking 2 Mondays off is career suicide. I am trying to maximize the time I spend skiing out west, so that I don't need to pay for over priced new England lift tickets or lodging.

Otherwise, much thanks to the organizers for planning the Gathering. Please understand that my decision is neither personal or political. Its simply a matter of convenience.

if it turns out i shuttle up from SLC to JH, i will Very likely drop in for a day at snowbasin beforehand.

I'm going to add to the beginning thread a list of people who would Possibly be skiing Snowbasin on Friday. It's not written in stone, just a list of possibles. PM me if you wish to be added or taken off.

Thanks for this thread Bonni.

I am back in the planning stages. I can't really give firm committal until the Fall, but I see something firming up here that has substance. The real reason for much of the flap was I had already been talking to 'never-evers' and 'beginners' about going. I said there were alterior motives, and not openly stating them really was enlightening.

I would like to send a special note of appreciation to the professionals who have stepped forward with their show of intent and support for the ESA mission.

Thanks!!

Feal-

I hope you do decide to attend any one of the EpicSki events. From what I have experienced, ALL are made to feel welcome, as I was last year!

As for never evers, and beginners, I can't think of a BETTER way to become acquainted with the magic of skiing. I would consider it a pleasure to spend some time skiing with "soon to be skiers", as would most of the Bear contingent. I think we all get a charge out of sharing our LOVE of skiing! :

Thoughtful post Bonni, I like you already. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys at the Academy. Feal, I second Bonni's comments and hope you do attend. I'd like to meet and ski with you as well.

Aw shucks, I'm blushing!

Come on, feal! I know you'll enjoy yourself at ESA. At the risk of sounding like Fox, you'll at least get to meet ME, so the trip won't be a total wash!

I'm sure you are right Bonni, and thank you for the kind words of invitation.

- As far as committing right now, I find it amazing there are so many people who can nail things down this far in advance. I find objectives targeted more than a couple of months in advance often fall off my radar screen. This part of the year would have to be considered 'window shopping' for me, while earmarking points of major interest. I'm sure interest will pick up significantly in the fall when folks begin turning their attention toward cooler recreation.

Keep up the hard work. You are a valuable asset to this community.

Mescalero,

I wanted to hear the answer to your question. Why did you delete?

Hopefully because he didn't want this thread to take on the same tone as the last. You know, kinda letting the dead dog lie.

Edit: I posted late. Obviously I was wrong.

The road less traveled is the High Road. I'd like to traverse that one more often than I do.

Thanks coach for the appropriate and timely kick in the seat.

Don't you mean the High Traverse? The one that gives you so many great options to drop down to Wildcat Base? Or were you thinking about me telling you, with a sigh, in a bar, somewhere ages, and ages hence: two pistes that diverge near the yellow trail, and I took the one less pisted out, and that made all the difference...

Bumping up--the browns, reds, and golds of autumn are lying in the gutter, dead.

Snow is on the way.

go there

Or go to the top of this page and click on 2004 EpicSki Academy Planning.
